Adjustments of student quotas are based upon the need of a particular course or project. Authorization by the Chair of the department, which offers the course, is required to adjust quotas for students. Authorization by the Chief Information Officer (or designee) is required to adjust quotas for all other accounts.
PURPOSE:
Each of the Enterprise Systems has different storage and access requirements. A quota system is needed to effectively manage the storage resources of these systems. This quota system will help to ensure that sufficient storage capacity is provided to all campus users and to encourage the appropriate use of each system
PROCEDURES:
1. The Email and file servers (Udrive and Vdrive) shall be monitored to determine when users exceed their quota limits. Users will be notified when they exceed 90% of their quota limit. Users must archive files or request an increase in their quota limits, before they reach 100% of their quota limit. When a user reaches 120% of their quota limit, no additional storage growth is possible. The user must reduce their storage consumption.
2. Requests for increases in quota are processed by IT/USS. Requests to adjust quotas for students are authorized by the department chair of the course being offered. Requests to adjust quotas for all other account types are authorized by the Chief Information Officer. These limits shall be reviewed on a yearly basis.
