Spring 2008

Charge/Mission:

Operating under a Memorandum of Understanding with the University. the mission of the Alumni Association is to create opportunities for former students to become more connected to and interactive with the University and with one another. The association serves as a conduit in building relationships with alumni according to individual interests and former students and academic affiliations.  The association also attempts to garner the individual and collective talents of its members and 180,000 alumni.  The expertise and experiences of a vast alumni network helps the University extend its educational mission well beyond graduation.

Leadership:

Members of the Alumni Association Board are volunteer leaders who support and advise the University on matters relating to alumni.  The Board is comprised of:
1. Executive Officers
2. At large members elected to serve three year terms
3. Members appointed by the University President
4. Presidents of Chartered Alumni Chapters of the Association
5. Ex-Officio members to include the University President, Vice President for University Advancement, and past presidents of the Association
6. An Honorary Director, a designated high honor ( Designee: Dr. Ed Peckham)
7. The Assistant Vice President, Alumni Relations

8. A student representative appointed by the AVP, Alumni Relations

Membership:

Open to all those who are loyal to CSUN and wish to support the University.

Membership Rates:

$40 single annual; $50 joint annual; $20 recent graduates and faculty and staff; $500 single lifetime; $600 joint lifetime.

Meeting Schedule:

There are four (4) Quarterly meetings of the Board of Directors with other Association committees.  The June meeting is designated as the "Annual Meeting" and is open to all members. Alumni chapter meetings are held throughout the year.

Committee Classification:

A Memorandum of Understanding between the University and the Alumni Association, interpreted together with Title 5, Article 15 of the California Code of Regulations defines the nature and scope of the relationship between the University and the Alumni Association.
