Pegasus Mail IMAP/SMTP Configuration Expert Guide
This procedure will create “profiles” that will allow access to the campus mail server via Pegasus Mail. It is also a step in migrating email functions from our mail server to the campus mail server. Perform the procedures in its entirety!
The IMAP configuration will allow access to a "shared" mailbox regardless of the client (Pegasus Mail or WebMail).
The SMTP configuration routes email directly to the campus mail server.

The IMAP mailbox is subject to 100MB quota. Emails you move to the local mailbox will not be available on WebMail.

Notes
Passwords: when you change your campus account password, you must also change your Pegasus Mail IMAP and SMTP profiles to match the campus account password. THIS IS IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER: Pegasus Mail will issue the "STOP" error when your password is invalid. [picture]
Checking for new mail: Your IMAP mailbox is refreshed automatically every 30 seconds, however, you can force a refresh by going to Pegasus Mail > File > Check host for new mail.
Inbound email from Administration & Finance Division and Athletics Dept, excluding PPM and Public Safety, will be delivered to your "local" mailbox. All other emails (users who have configured their mail client to use smtp.csun.edu to deliver their email -- e.g. the rest of the campus, PPM, Pub Safety, and non-csun.edu) will go to your IMAP mailbox (once migration is complete, all emails will go to the IMAP mailbox). There will be no pop-up notification for new mail arriving in the IMAP mailbox. Also, mail filtering may need to be adjusted.
Additional help with IMAP, SMTP and working with IMAP folders can be found in Pegasus Mail > Help > Help Index.
If you need further assistance or encounter problems with the new configuration, please submit a service request on the Systems & Technology support portal.
