- What is LIVE SCAN?
- Live Scan is inkless fingerprinting, which is electronically transmitted to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) for completion of a criminal record check.
- Where do I get the "Request for Live Scan Service" form?
- 1. The agencies requesting your clearance should provide you with the proper Live Scan form.
- 2. The Live Scan office DOES NOT provide this form.
- Do I need to make an appointment?
- No. We accept walk-ins during our hours of operation.
- What do I bring to the Live Scan office?
- 1. Please bring a valid Drivers License (any state in the United States), valid California Identification Card, or a valid passport.
- 2. A temporary license (DMV paper printout) is NOT a valid form of identification.
- 3. A "Request for Live Scan Service" form.
- 4. The fee: CASH (exact amount ONLY) or a CHECK (made payable to CSUN).
- What is the Live Scan Fingerprinting Process?
- 1. The Live Scan Operator will enter your informaiton from the Live Scan Request Form into the computer and capture your fingerprint images. The captured information is immediately transmitted to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) over a secured data line.
- 2. The Live Scan Operator will give you two (2) copies of the Live Scan Request Form after the prints are taken. Return one (1) of those copies to the agency that has requested the Live Scan. The other copy is for your records.
- What should I do if I get a Rejection Notice?
- If you had your Live Scan done with our agency, contact us or walk-in so that we can re-take your fingerprints. Bring the Rejection Notice and the new, completed Live Scan Request Form. THERE WILL BE NO ADDITIONAL FEE FOR THIS RE-SUBMISSION.
