Message from the Coordinator:
The mission statement of the Matador Patrol organization is "to serve our academic community by providing night-time personal safety in an efficient and friendly manner."
The safety of our campus community is at the forefront of everything we do. The Matador Patrol is yet another public safety service offered by the Department of Public Safety to ensure a safe and productive environment for the members of our campus community.
Matador Patrol members wear easily recognizable uniforms that are red, white and black in color. Don't be alarmed if you find a Matador Patrol member asking you if you'd like to be escorted to your next destination.
Matador Patrol members are students who are proactive, energetic, and have the best of intentions of ensuring CSUN maintains that reputation as a safe academic community.
I personally invite you to utilize this convenient, practical, student-run night-time service to supplement your personal safety.

Personal Safety Escorts:
The Matador Patrol Escort program is a free service to members of the campus community. The objective of the program is to provide a safe alternative to walking alone at night. Matador Patrol members are equipped with radios that allow them to keep in constant contact with the University Police, and may be observed, during the hours of darkness, walking around on campus, riding a bicycle, or driving a Matador Patrol marked electric cart.
When requesting a safety escort, please provide the dispatcher with the following information:
- Your name
- Your location
- A phone number where you can be contacted
- Your destination
A uniformed Matador Patrol member will then meet you and escort you to your destination. Please be mindful that the Personal Safety Escort Program is not a taxi service, it is meant to provide a safe alternative to walking alone at night.
Frequently asked questions:
- What are the hours of operation?
- Days: Monday through Thursday during the Fall and Spring semesters
Hours: Dusk until 11:00pm

- • University Park Apartment housing areas
- • North Campus
- • Parking lots and Apartment buildings adjacent/contiguous to the University Campus
