Heating & Cooling: The Mechanical Services Section maintains the heating and air conditioning of campus buildings and implements the University's energy conservation activities. The central plant, which provides heating and cooling in the buildings, operates twenty hours a day. Mechanical Services employees install, maintain and repair heating, ventilation, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment throughout the campus. They also maintain many other auxiliary mechanical devices and equipment. One of Mechanical Services' most important goals is lowering CSUN's overall energy use. They accomplish this by installing energy efficient equipment, developing procedures to lessen energy consumption, and constantly looking for new ways to save energy without disrupting campus activities.

Utility Rooms: PPM restricts access to electrical and mechanical rooms to its employees and to others under PPM supervision. State and Local Fire codes prohibit storage of materials in these rooms.
