As you may be aware, the California State legislature passed Senate Bills 20 and 50 known as Electronic Waste Recycling or "eWaste" Act. eWaste requires California consumers to pay a fee on certain electronic products at the time those products are purchased. These Senate Bills, and the related fees, provide for the recycling and/or proper disposal of electronic equipment at the end of its useful life. The fees are collected from customers by the vendors, and are then remitted to the State of California who redistributes the funds to those who recycle/dispose of the equipment.

The law requires all products with monitors or LCD screens greater than 4" in size to be charged a fee:

* For monitors greater than 4" and less than 15" = $6 per item
* For monitors 15" and up to 35" = $8 per item
* For monitors greater than 35" = $10 per item

Please obtain a quote from your sales representative, when applicable. If the fee is not on the requisition, it will be added to the purchase order. I have received notice from Apple and Dell Computers.
