Police Records Unit:

Joy joined the Department of Public Safety in 2004 bringing with her 14 years of professional law enforcement and records management experience.

The Records Unit is the data collection, dissemination, and retention arm of the Department of Public Safety. It is responsible for the administration and coordination of administrative, parking services and police arrest, crime, and investigative reports and citations. The records Unit also prepares and distributes the Daily Crime Log, coordinates the customer satisfaction survey program, coordinates the information referral program and assists in background investigative checks with other law enforcement agencies.

Obtaining Copies of Police Reports:

Police reports are released via the approval of the Chief of Police, the Records Administrator, or his/her designee, according to the rules and regulations outlined in the Public Records Act and other state and federal laws

All requests for copies of police reports must be made in writing. For your convenience, a request form is available by clicking here or at the front counter of the CSUN Department of Publpuic Safety.

A valid picture identification is required to obtain a copy of a police report.

Police clearance letters must be requested in person at the CSUN Dept. of Public Safety. A valid picture identification is required.
