Student Assistants are eligible to receive the employee discount for public transit. This subsidy is subject to change to meet fiscal limitations.
ELIGIBILITY:
To be eligible to receive the subsidy a Student Assistant must meet ALL of the following criteria:
• Must be classified as a paid Student Assistant. Work Study students are not eligible.
• Must be employed through a department or office on the Cal State Northridge campus.
• Must have department-established, assigned work hours that begin somewhere between 6:00am and 10:00am, Monday through Friday.
ENROLLMENT:
To enroll, student assistants must submit a completed enrollment application along with a photocopy of the student’s CSUN ID card by the 15th of the month in order to get onto the “approved” list for purchasing a discounted pass the following month. Enrollment applications are available from the Transportation Program Office, ext. 3946. New enrollment applications received after the 15th will be processed for the following month.
Transit passes go on sale the 25th of the month and are sold until the 10th of the following month. Passes are sold at the USU Ticket Office, located in the University Student Union.
MONTHLY VERIFICATION PROCESS:
To remain eligible throughout the semester, each month, the Student Assistant must provide a verification report showing his/her daily beginning work hours. This verification report must have the signature of the student assistant, and the signature of either the faculty/staff supervisor of the student, or the person responsible for time reporting at the student’s location of employment.
This is due at the end of the month and must be submitted to Transportation Programs not later than the 15th of the following month. (i.e., Verification for April is due by May 15th).
Since the monthly verification is required to maintain the student’s enrollment in the program, failure to provide the verification by the deadline will remove the student from the transit subsidy list and the student will need to complete the registration process again to get back on the list. The Commuter Transportation Program Office assumes no responsibility for delays in campus mail.
