What is the Employee Assistance Program?

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a resource benefit provided by the Employee Relations Department at California State University, Northridge.
EAP services are confidential and provided at no cost for California State University, Northridge Faculty and Staff.
The purpose of the program is to provide services that inspire ongoing personal growth and enrich the lives of our employees at work and at home.
EAP services provide opportunities for education, direction, skill development and tools that empower.
The University is committed to caring for and supporting the health and well-being of its employees.

Who is Eligible for the Employee Assistance Program?

All California State University Northridge Faculty and Staff.

Why Would I Want to Use the Employee Assistance Program?

Most people who contact the EAP are looking for options or resources that will help them resolve a problem in their personal or work life.
We have found that employees value having access to resources, education, guidance and opportunities to talk with knowledgeable people about issues that are impacting their lives.
Work performance, productivity, creativity and morale markedly improve when an employee is assisted in dealing with a difficult issue they are facing.

Brief intervention and the proper resources can revitalize an individual’s true potential at work and at home.
Providing an effective support network can sustain an individual who is working towards resolution of a problem.

EAP Programs and Services

Brief Intervention and Assessment
- Evaluation of an acute or emergency situation with referrals and disposition as needed.
Brief Individual Consultation
- One-on-one meetings with trained professionals to discuss personal challenges, obtain direction and referrals for resolution.
Departmental Education Presentations
- Specialized in-service presentations on timely and relevant topics to individual departments.
On-Going Group Support
- Peer and/or facilitator led group support for employees faced with similar challenges at work or in their personal life.
Lunchtime Learning Sessions
- Informal seminars and group discussions focusing on a wide array of topics about work, life and wellbeing.
EAP Publications/Self-Help Library
- Furnish written materials, handouts, brochures, pamphlets to faculty and staff that inform, educate and support in the areas of wellness and healthy living.
Community Referrals
- Personalized referrals for community resources and health care benefits. Providing tools that will help employees make wise and informed choices about the help they seek.
EAP Web Page
- Direct access for employees to learn about EAP services, programs, community resources, and self-help library.

How do I Access the Employee Assistance Program?

California State University, Northridge encourages its management staff to recommend the Employee Assistance Program as a confidential resource to any Faculty or Staff member who might benefit from our services.

You may access the program by referral from your supervisor, friend or co-worker, or, contact us directly.
