New Employee Welcome and Orientation (NEWO - pronounced KNEE-woe) is held on the second Wednesday of every month from 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM in Oviatt 16. New employees are automatically signed up for attendance.
New Employee Welcome and Orientation is valuable, however, not only to new employees, but also to current employees who would like to get up-to-date information on various aspects of employment at CSUN. If you have been either a staff or faculty member for many years and aren't sure about what's new on campus, or if, perhaps, you don't know how to access information about CalPERS and your other benefits, you'll find this informative session quite helpful. Professional development opportunities and information on understanding the difference between your 401K, 457 and 403(b) retirement plans are among the many topics reviewed. If you're a current employee and would like to attend the next NEWO, please ask your supervisor for permission.
The following are among the topics that are addressed at New Employee Welcome and Orientation:
California State University System Overview
Cal State Northridge Overview
Overview of Campus Security and Emergency Preparedness

Information technology at CSUN
In addition to the above information which we believe you will find interesting, NEWO provides information that each employee is responsible for knowing, including the university's emergency preparedness and zero tolerance policies.
Cal State Northridge (CSUN) is a terrific place to work. Get the inside information about our beautiful campus...and remember - getting the info requires finding NEWO!
Welcome to Cal State Northridge! We are happy to have you join our CSUN team and wish you the very best as you begin your career here. I look forward to meeting you at orientation.
Again, warm welcome!
