Campus officials closed the campus on September 29, 2005 from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the next morning as a result of the Topanga wildfire. Employees are encouraged to judge for themselves the level of safety when coming to work during such conditions or any emergency situation. The Chancellor's Office issued guidelines for the accounting of time during the campus closure to assure consistency in the treatment of faculty and staff.
