LEFT ARROW  New Recognition Programs

The university has created new programs to recognize the outstanding contributions of staff and administrators. New awards include the Presidential Award, the Award of Merit, and the Team Excellence Award. The winners of these awards will be recognized in May at the Staff Seniority and Excellence Recognition event. Nomination forms are available on the HR website at http://www-admn.csun.edu/hrs/comp/awards/.

LEFT ARROW  Important Time and Labor Update Regarding Separated Employees

The Time and Labor system does not allow approval of time for separated employees, which means timing is critical. Timekeepers and Approvers need to be aware of separating employees, and enter and approve all appropriate time PRIOR to separation.

For all other faculty and staff, time needs to be entered and approved prior to the Separation Clearance Form being sent to Human Resources.

If you have further questions, please contact PeopleSoft Campus Support at x6685, or pshelp@csun.edu.

LEFT ARROW  Position Management Faculty/Student/Special Pay Information Reminder

Requirements:

  • All employees must have a Position Number assigned, and "Position Number" and "Reports to" fields are required on all HR transaction forms, including PARs and Authorization for Special Pay forms.
  • Employees who were not in active status as of 10/11/2004 and are being rehired will need to have a position number assigned.
  • Be sure to use the new HR forms that include fields for "Position Number" and "Reports to."

Finding Position Numbers in PeopleSoft:

  • Filled positions display the position number on the CSUN Job Roster page under "Position."
  • Vacant positions, where the "Num Active" field is blank, are listed on the CSUN Position Roster.
  • If under the "Manager" name field you encounter the message "More Than One Found," this indicates two individuals are in the one position. If this is incorrect, please notify PeopleSoft Campus Support.
  • If a new position needs to be created, indicate "NEW" and who the position "Reports to" on the PAR or Authorization for Special Pay form, and HR will generate a new position number.
  • For detailed explanations of the CSUN Job Roster and CSUN Position Roster, refer to the PeopleSoft Human Resources Position Management Implementation Guide found at: http://www-admn.csun.edu/ps/hrs/PosMgmtUpgradeGuide.doc

If you have any questions, please contact pshelp@csun.edu.

LEFT ARROW  Part-Time Faculty Sick Leave Balances Now Available Online

Thank you for your assistance in helping Payroll/HRIS complete the review and calculation of sick leave accruals for part-time faculty. The reconstructed balances were loaded into the system and can now be viewed.

You will no longer need to submit Absence Reports to HR for processing. Department timekeepers can access and process sick time for all faculty members in Time and Labor.

Should you have questions, please contact pshelp@csun.edu.

LEFT ARROW  Injury and Accident Reporting

Timely reporting of employee injuries and accidents is vital to maintaining the health and safety of our employees. As such, we would like to remind everyone that injuries/accidents must be reported immediately. Upon knowledge of the injury, the supervisor must complete a Supervisor's Accident Investigation Report (EH&S Form 620) within 24 hours. The form should be faxed immediately to Human Resources at (818) 677-7270 with the original sent by mail to Human Resources (MC 8229) and a copy to Environmental Health & Safety (MC 8284). Failure to complete this form or to not report the injury can delay benefits to the employee and result in a monetary fine for CSUN. Additionally, the supervisor must provide the injured employee with an Employee's Claim for Workers' Compensation form (DWC-1) within 24 hours if the injury results in lost time beyond the date of injury or medical treatment other than first aid.

If you need further information, please contact Kari Dom at extension 3351.
