| Human Resources just
completed a review of the number of people who did not receive formal
feedback on their performance in the last twelve months. That number was
suprisingly large. Supervisors are reminded that it is university policy
that employees receive formal feedback at least once per year. This process
is a great way to mentor, coach, develop, recognize, reinforce, and modify
behavior. If you need assistance with the process, please call John Daly, Director for Employee Relations, at extension 6556; Susan Krall, HR Manager, at extension 2101; or Mika Williamson, HR Manager, at extension 2101. |

| To avoid
loss of vacation credits, your vacation balance as of January 1,
2005 must be at or below your maximum carryover per your applicable
bargaining/administrative unit agreement. For most employees, leave
balances are available online through SOLAR Self Service (http://www.csun.edu/portal). Those who do not have
access to a computer should contact their department Timekeeper. Remember
to consider your vacation accruals for October, November, and December
when calculating the number of hours you must use before January
1st. For details concerning the calculation of your Maximum Carryover Hours, please refer to http://www-admn.csun.edu/hrs/benefits/CarryOver.pdf. Special note for faculty in the California Faculty Association (R03): After one (1) full year of employment, a California Faculty Association (R03) employee who accrues vacation (12-month appointments) shall take at least 40 hours of vacation each calendar year. Any part of the 40 hours not taken during the calendar year shall be forfeited by January of the subsequent year (Article 34.7). | ||||||||
