The 2006-2007
University Payroll Calendar is now available, posted on the Web at: This year,
Veterans' Day will be observed November 10th, 2006 instead of during
the holiday closure. As a result, there is not a holiday to cover December
29th, 2006. Employees will need to use their personal holiday or vacation
to cover that day of campus closure. |
| The
Commuter Transportation Program is available to university employees.
The program offers both information and incentives to encourage the use
of "Commute Alternatives." A Commute Alternative is any travel
mode or scheduling option that replaces driving alone to the campus each
day. Incentives include a cost reduction on public transit (bus/train)
and vanpooling. Information is also available on modes of transportation
for which incentives are not available (i.e., carpooling, bicycling, walking,
telecommuting,* compressed workweek*).
Public Transit Program: The campus is served by Metro bus lines and the Metrolink train system. For a personalized bus itinerary, call 1-800-COMMUTE or go to www.metro.net. For Metrolink train information, go to www.metrolinktrains.com. CSUN operates a free shuttle to/from the Northridge Metrolink Station. The university provides a 60% discount off the cost of your public transit monthly pass or 10-trip tickets. The total discount must not exceed $100 in any month and you are allowed one discounted purchase transaction each month. Vanpool Program: To start your own vanpool, you need the following: at least 7 CSUN employees who share the same starting location and work hours. At least 3 of the 7 must be eligible to be approved as drivers/alternate drivers. The advantage to being in a University-sponsored vanpool group is that your monthly vanpool fee (currently between $66 and $92) includes fuel, insurance, maintenance, parking, and emergency assistance for the vanpool. There is a simple application process. Guaranteed Emergency Ride Program: If a registered employee who used one of the above alternative commute modes to get to campus has a sudden off-campus emergency and needs to leave to respond to that emergency, there is free one way transportation to home or starting point. For additional information contact Astrid B. Logan, Transportation Coordinator by emailing astrid.logan@csun.edu or by calling 818-677-3946. *Requires management approval. |
