Professional Development Programs is offering more than 20 new programs. Many of these seminars are part of a series of certification programs you can earn to advance your knowledge and career. Subject areas include leadership, management development, communication, influence, service excellence, interpersonal skills, and performance development. Additionally, we are offering New Hire Orientation on the second Wednesday of every month that will be open to newly hired as well as previously hired employees. In addition to recognizing loyal and dedicated service over extended periods of time in May at the Service Recognition function, the university will also be recognizing individuals and teams for outstanding accomplishments in support of unit and/or university goals. These awards are intended for staff and administrators. LEFT ARROW  Employee Assistance Program

The CSUN Office of University Counseling Services offers short-term counseling (usually 1-3 sessions) for all CSUN faculty, staff, and administrators. The focus of this short-term contact is to provide support, clarify issues, and assist in finding an appropriate referral to professionals in the community. To make an appointment please call Extension 2366 (TTY users call Extension 7834). Evening hours are provided until 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the spring and fall semesters.

LEFT ARROW  HRS Self Service Reminder

Faculty requesting an educational level change should contact their Department Chair/Dean's office to request the change. Upon verification of the degree, the Department/Dean's office will notify Human Resources by email to rgershon@csun.edu to make the change.

LEFT ARROW  Form 672 Time and Attendance

The purpose of Form 672 Time and Attendance Report is to "certify" that the listed employees are entitled to payment for the pay period noted on the form.  The department is asked to review the form and write in any changes needed to accurately report eligibility for payment.  The listing is to include the employee name, timebase, and class code (PeopleSoft equivalent term "job code").

The state′s purpose of the form is explained by the text in the gray box on the top of the form:

"I certify under penalty of perjury that I am duly authorized by the herein named state agency to make this report and certification, that this report correctly reflects the attendance of all employees of this reporting unit for the pay period indicated and that all employees listed herein are entitled to payment for the time reported herein.  All persons listed herein have taken and filed the oaths required by law."

Corrections or notations to the form should include the following status changes incurred during the designated pay period:

  • Separation of employment
  • Docks
  • Leaves of absence
  • Change in timebase or class code (PeopleSoft equivalent term "job code")
  • Name change
  • New employee (blank forms are available upon request to attach to the preprinted forms to add employees if more space is needed)

Two signatures are required from the department for certification.  The two signatures lines are located at the top and right of the form.  The Attendance Clerk is the individual who initially reviews and updates the form.  The Certifying Officer is the departmental authorizing signature.

A completed and accurate Form 672 informs Payroll Administration of necessary information to verify appropriate transactions have been made to pay employees correctly. Internal and external audits are performed periodically checking for the completeness and accuracy of these reports.

LEFT ARROW  Position Management Information Reminder
When management makes reporting relationship, organizational structure, or working title changes that do not fall under the definition of a reorganization, such changes should be communicated to Human Resources in order to implement the change in PeopleSoft. Please complete the Request for Change in Staff Employee Status Form located at http://www-admn.csun.edu/hrs/forms/changestatus.dot. This is necessary even when changing reporting relationship or department ID within the same unit.

Let's talk about access outside the State of California. BlueCard is a national PPO program that allows PERS members to use BlueCard Preferred Providers in 53 Blue Cross/Blue Shield plans across the country. For referral to a BlueCard Preferred Provider call (800) 810-BLUE (2583). You can reference your PERS Choice/PERSCare Evidence of Coverage book or go online at www.calpers.ca.gov for more detailed information.
