| Duties: | |
| Under general supervision, monitors, operates, controls, and coordinates service for multi-system information processing or transmission equipment in a network operation production environment in multiple facilities within the Campus infrastructure. Develops and maintains operations and network documentation for the IT Data Center and related facilities. Assists with new equipment installations and infrastructure facility build-outs. Plans, coordinates, and tests the process of installing or de-installing equipment, peripherals, and associated infrastructure components. Develops and revises documentation and procedures. Provides necessary procedures and documentation to accomplish the desired IT and customer objectives. Monitors and reports system status to provide troubleshooting services and solutions. Acts on alarms from Network Management Software. Updates and manages infrastructure records; monitors production systems to determine needs and provides troubleshooting services and solutions; and coordinates backups. Diagnoses and reports system problems and documents, solves, and escalates to appropriate personnel; arranges onsite product support; and conducts inquiries concerning products/services. Performs other duties as assigned. | |
| Qualifications: | |
| Equivalent to two years of full-time experience in computing or two years of college information technology or related field. | |
| Knowledge, Specialized Skills, and Abilities: | |
| Knowledge of computer hardware, software, and network equipment; and LAN communications hardware, protocols, and interfaces. Familiarity with LAN hardware such as hubs, routers, gateways, and switches. Ability and specialized skills to: utilize standard application programs; use independent thought and take a proactive approach towards system monitoring, problem reporting, and resolution; interpret and apply reference and technical documentation; work as a team member by performing collaborative as well as individual work; read and write at a level appropriate to the position; communicate clearly and effectively in person and over the telephone; present ideas clearly verbally and in writing; participate in collaboration with other vendors, IT units, and customers; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. | |
