SALARY/TIMEBASE: $2872-3513 mo./full-time (Hiring Range: up to $3300 mo.)
GENERAL INFORMATION:

Based on satisfactory progress and successful completion of the training program at the SSP IA level, the incumbent will be promoted to the level of Student Services Professional IB after 12 months. Then, after satisfactory progress and successful completion of the continued training program at the SSP IB level, the incumbent will be promoted to the level of Student Services Professional II after an additional 12 months.

Duties:

Under direct supervision, is responsible for providing holistic support services to new and continuing students in the College of Engineering & Computer Science (CECS) including special focus on the EOP student population. Provides individual and group advisement; advises first-time freshmen and continuing students regarding course scheduling for Fall, Spring and Summer semesters; assists with high school and community college outreach activities including campus career days, college lab tours and visits to area high schools/community colleges; assists in the evaluation and assessment of EOP student potential; conducts pre-admission interviews; recommends the admissibility of EOP applicants; assists with event planning and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university.  Specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities listed may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. 
Knowledge, Specialized Skills, and Abilities:

Working knowledge of: the basic principles of student development theory and individual and group behavior; research and observation techniques; and techniques and methods of interviewing and co-curricular education programming.  Ability and specialized skills to: gather and analyze data, reason logically, draw valid conclusions, and make appropriate recommendations; participate in and contribute to group meetings, conferences, and interviews; make oral presentations; clearly express ideas; write clear and concise reports; work independently; operate standard office machines; utilize Microsoft Office Suite; complete assignments in a timely manner; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and faculty; and work in a multi-cultural environment.
