Dependant Care Account (D.C.A. Program)


Program Overview:
Do you want to reduce your taxes? If so, the CSU offers ways for eligible employees to do just that. The California State University Dependent Care Account (DCA) allows you to pay certain expenses from your salary before income and Social Security taxes are calculated and deducted. The expenses include certain expenses for dependent care if the care is required in order for you (and your spouse, if you are married) to work.Visit the CSU website at: http://www.irs.gov/publications/p503/index.html for details of the Dependent Care Account Plan.

The booklet tells you about one tax-cutting plan and how you can put it to work for you. The booklet describes highlights of the Dependent Care Account. If you wish to particiapte in this plan, you must enroll each year during the month of October, if you want to partiicpate for the new plan year. Please read the booklet carefully, so that you understand this important pre-tax benefit. Enrollment Procedures:

If you are a new employee, you may enroll within 60 days of your date of hire to participate for the remainder of the calendar year. All employees must re-enroll every October (during the open enrollment period) if he/she wishes to participate in the DCA plan for the following calendar (plan) year. In order to enroll, visit the Office of Human Resource Services, Benefits Administration in University Hall, Room 185. You will be required to select a monthly payroll amount, as well as sign and date the DCA Authorization form.s
