| Duties: | |
| Under general supervision, facilitates communication between hearing and deaf/hard of hearing persons using a manual sign language system, translating for both parties. Facilitates the integration of hearing impaired persons into Residential Life business activities, including staff meetings, staff related activities, public events or other assignments as directed; and performs other duties as assigned. | |

| Knowledge, Specialized Skills, and Abilities: | |
| Knowledge of: American Sign Language or other sign systems required by the hearing impaired person; methods and techniques used in communicating with hearing impaired persons; and Code of Ethics prepared by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. Ability and specialized skills to: use American Sign Language or other sign systems; interpret spoken English; interpret signed information; and interpret or transliterate for a group of hearing and deaf/hard of hearing persons. | |
