Foodservices Assistant/Cashier

SALARY/TIMEBASE: $8.35-9.35 hr./part-time
GENERAL IMFORMATION: Temporary - renewable, end date to be determined; Hours: 20 hrs/wk to be arranged M-F
Duties:
Under general supervision, rings up sales for customers, accepts money for purchases, and returns accurate change to the customer; reconciles the register accurately; stocks merchandise and supplies; maintains workstations; and services equipment. Brews coffee and serves beverages; maintains food at correct temperatures; performs miscellaneous pantry work such as cutting, slicing, and dicing vegetables, meats, and fruits; fills food trays; stores and receives supplies/food from storage shelves; washes dishes and eating utensils; cleans tables; and maintains the cleanliness of food preparation areas and workstations. Keeps informed of foodservice price structures; and performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Specialized Skills, and Abilities:
General knowledge of kitchen sanitation, safety measures, and food handling sanitation. Ability and specialized skills to: operate cash register and make accurate change; learn to identify various food and beverage products and their price structure; learn store policies and procedures and apply them to the daily work routine; utilize customer service skills by providing service in a courteous and pleasant manner; work cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff; read, write, follow verbal and written directions; maintains required dress code, and perform arithmetic calculations at a level appropriate to the duties assigned. Bilingual in English/Spanish desirable.
