Special Events Insurance

Special Event Insurance provides short term liability coverage for special event groups (for profit or non-profit) and/or performers using California State university Northridge facilities only.

The Special Event Liability Program is designed to address the risk management and insurance needs of cities, counties, school districts, special districts and private facility owners associated with the short term rental or use of their facilities such as halls, auditoriums, streets, parks, fields, etc. As some groups are small and do not have a need for regular on-going commercial insurance, CSUN Risk Management offers this alternative to provide the opportunity to secure coverage on an as-needed basis for special events.

CSUN departments that sponsor a special event may contact the Department of Environmental Health & Safety directly to determine whether special events insurance is required. Insurance requirements are determined on a case-by-case basis. Facility reservations, facility staffing costs, special equipment and/or infrastructure requirements of the event, and security requirements are handled by contacting the University Licensing Department at (818) 677-2519.

CSUN departments may contact the Department of Environmental Health & Safety directly at (818) 677-2079 for further information on special insurance needs. All registered student organizations must initiate contact with the Office of Student Development & International Programs at (818) 677-2393 for information and application for student event insurance purchase.

All other off-campus entities planning a special event on the CSUN campus must contact the Department of Environmental Health & Safety for further information by calling (818) 677-2079. In addition, all special events sponsored by outside groups must obtain a special University licensing agreement in order to use any space on campus.
