Emergency Procedures: Emergency Signals and Reporting:

EMERGENCY REPORTING:

    1. The quickest way to obtain help for any type of emergency is to call 911. The Police         Station number is 2111 - this can be used as an alternative to the emergency         number. All campus phones should be posted with emergency phone number labels.

    2. When calling the emergency number, stay calm and carefully explain the problem and         location. DO NOT HANG UP until told to do so.

    3. Immediately notify the Department of Public Safety (911 or 2111) of any         emergencies in or around your building.

    4. Report any observed conditions which may interfere with the evacuation of your         building to the Environmental Health & Safety Office (ext. 2401) or to the Police         Department (ext. 2111).

EMERGENCY SIGNALS:

    1. Building Alarm: When an area fire alarm is activated, all occupants are required to         evacuate the building. Follow the route in Evacuation Map that has been posted to         the evacuation area.

    2. Voice Command: Building occupants may also be instructed to evacuate by voice         command. This command will come from a University official such as a Police Officer or         Floor Warden.
